We’re in India!
Our trip got off to an exciting start with the story of the missing passport… but after that it all went pretty smooth. After approx. 24 hours of traveling (including a night at a hotel in Muscat) we stepped out of Goa International Airport and into the heat, the crowds of people and the sounds of honking horns.
Cows and chaos
During the drive from the airport to Agonda Beach we got a first taste of India. The roads are filled with scooters, cars, buses and cows. Lots and lots of cows. All traffic is criss-crossing and honking their way to their destination. The cows slowly saunter along (or in the middle of) the road, seemingly undisturbed by the chaos around them. On the sides of the road sheds, tent-like houses, neat looking houses and piles of garbage alternate each other.
Swimming under the starlit sky
We arrive at Agonda Beach sweaty from the long and warm drive (30 degrees, hiking boots and long trousers don’t go well together…) and tired from the long trip and all the new impressions.
Once here though we got exactly what we needed. A nice room, watermelon juice (at what has become our favourite Bar & Restaurant), a nice catch-up with our friend John, a swim in the warm sea under the starlit sky and to finish off the evening, a wonderful Indian meal! 🙂
We are loving it here and we are looking forward to what the coming 6 weeks have to offer!
